With the end of the semester a week away, I’ve been hard at work…procrastinating and finishing craft projects :-P

And some sewing…

This is actually my second dress, but the first one needs a few renovations. I am so happy with how this came out! It fits perfectly and was surprisingly fast to make. I learned a lot along the way, and I’ve definitely got the sewing bug.

I got a surprise when I walked out the door this morning… I planted an amaryllis in a pot last year and it got lots of leaves but never flowered, then pretty much died off over the “winter”. The pot is hiding behind a philodendron leaf so I didn’t notice it until today, but it’s got a huge stalk with a bloom on the end!

Amaryllis is blooming!

Off to stop procrastinating and study for my Organic chemistry tests tomorrow.

I was off work last night and again tonight, and I’ve gotten all kinds of things done that I wanted to do, for once :-P   Adam and I got a lawn mower yesterday, and today I mowed the front and side yards.  I almost finished sewing a dress.  I finished the tangled yoke cardigan and sewed on the buttons – just need to block it.  I planted my veggie gardens (finally).  I baked macaroni and cheese for dinner (and dinner tomorrow), and made snickerdoodles.  I even picked up around the house a little.  I love feeling productive :)

I’ve also been a good girl and gone to every class the last two weeks… and only two more weeks left!  (And two finals.)  As soon as grades are in I can apply to Nursing School, and I’ll find out a few weeks after that when I start.  You know what’s funny?  I STILL haven’t heard from PA school.

Tomorrow I have an appointment at the orthodontist… he said last time that I’m on track to get them off early, but how early???  I’m going to try to find out tomorrow – I’m ready to get these things off!

Sorry for the lapse in blogging – I had a test in Chem 2 last Thursday and one in Organic Chem today, so I’ve had my nose in a textbook pretty much any time I haven’t been sleeping or working for the last two weeks.  I’ll find out tomorrow and Wednesday how I did, but I felt pretty good about both tests (although this semester, that hasn’t meant much).

Work is crazy as usual.  The “busy” season should be coming to a close soon (any time, people!) but there have been no signs of slowing down, so everyone is tired and stressed.  Knitting helps a lot with my stress at work, so the Tangled Yoke Cardigan has been a perfect project – lots of stockinette!  No rows to count!  No charts!  Lots of exclamation points!  Alas, I only bought six balls of the Cashsoft 4 ply at that big sale a couple months ago, and I’ve run out while starting the collar/button band.  I ordered another ball (NO ONE around here carries the stuff), and some Noro Kureyon for good measure for a Booga Bag (Keri – once I saw yours, I had to make one too!).  No use paying for shipping for just ONE ball of yarn, now is there?

I have a bunch of other projects on the horizon, and I plan to use part of my “economic stimulus” check next month to stock up on yarn for the next few projects.  The warm weather here makes me want to knit lace, and I’m craving color for some reason, so I queued a bunch of Fair Isle on Ravlery.  This summer I also want to spin enough wool to make a nice thick cabled sweater this fall (a la Mom’s Irishmaan sweater).

Only three more weeks of school (minus one day).  I can make it.  I’m not taking classes this summer, so only working 48 hours a week will be like a vacation!

(Hey Mom -  the “select month” option on your archives doesn’t seem to work for me… but it was so much fun to go back through your archives!  It got me all homesick… can’t wait until you come visit!)
