Tonight Adam and I went to Stitch and Pitch at Tropicana Field – Tampa Bay Devil Rays vs Houston Astros. I’ve never been to a Major League baseball game, and we’ve been talking about going for a while – and having an excuse to knit sealed the deal.

This is what it looked like outside:

Luckily, this is what it looked like inside:

There were lots of knitters and crocheters, and even one man who was spinning! I quasi-Kinneared him, but apparently even my camera was in awe because the pictures came out all blurry. The light colored spot in the middle of the picture is the fiber on his lap.

To steal more photo ideas from the Yarn Harlot, here’s proof that I actually knit at the game.

I’m not a huge baseball fan, but the night ended well because we won!

We got some great goody bags, too! Adam not only agreed to go to a knitting related event with me, he gave me his goody bag…I’m a lucky girl :)

Two skeins of Araucania Ranco sock yarn, a skein of Plymouth Encore, a skein of Naturally Nazareth aran wool, two small Lantern Moon project bags, ChiaoGoo bamboo DPN’s and crochet hooks, an issue of Interweave Crochet, and some Eucalan samples (lavender and grapefruit). WOW! Even if the game had been a bust, the goody bags were totally worth it.

Can we arrange a “Stitch and Slash” night at a hockey game sometime? Stitching and Hooking?

I haven’t posted about my teeth or my braces in a long long time, mostly because the interesting (to me, at least) part is long gone and for the last year I’ve just been cruising along. In May, my orthodontist told me that he thought I would be done by “late summer” (whatever that means). I got them on in November 2006 and he quoted me two years, so anything less than that is great… but I WANT THEM OFF NOW!

So ever since my last adjustment, I’ve had this annoying jaw pain on the right side. At first I figured it was just pain from the adjustment, but now (five weeks later) I’m thinking that it’s probably something else – most likely, I’m clenching and grinding my teeth during the night. Which gives me raging headaches all day. Super fun. So, I made an appointment to go see the ortho later today to have him take a look, and let me know if I can use some kind of night guard or something to give my poor jaw a break. BUT I am super sneaky and have ulterior motives – I am hoping he’ll see my teeth and decide I’m about done and schedule a date to take these suckers OFF. I’m not getting my hopes up, but I’ll let you know if anything comes of it :)

Its the middle of my long weekend so I’m just checking in so say hi… here’s the highlights of the last week:

I finally pulled the weeds in the front planter and put in real plants. This is Mexican Heather, and it should spread out and bush up nicely and (hopefully) not need much upkeep. See that brown stuff in the upper right side of the picture? Yeah, thats our front lawn. I think its a lost cause.

I made a slipcover for the sofa! I figured I would do the test run on the sofa, before I ruined 8 yards of fabric on the big couch. Not sure when I’ll get to the other couch, but we’re enjoying this one for now.

merino/silk blend

I’ve been spinning, too! This is a merino/tussah silk blend (probably 80/20 but I don’t remember) that I got from the LYS. I have 3oz all together, and I’m hoping to get a decent yardage of a 2 ply lace/fingering weight and make a lace scarf or small shawl.

baudelaire

Not a finished project, but halfway there – this is the first Baudelaire sock.

Thats it for now… I’m off to work to play supervisor for the next two nights – um, yay or something.

The rainy season started a week or two ago, but the storms keep passing by our house.  NOT TODAY!  We finally got a good 30 minutes of a nice soaking rain, and the plants and grass already look happier.  It’s too late for the veggie garden (I knew it was probably too late when I planted it, but I’m still learning Florida’s growing seasons), but the rest of the yard and garden are much happier now.  Unfortunately the weeds are happier too, so it’ll be time to re-mulch later this week.

I’m a finishing fool – I finished Twist (except for the buttons), and I’m spending this evening sewing in a million ends on the Ivy League Vest.  I was chugging away at the edging on the Print ‘O The Wave stole, but I ran out of yarn 23 repeats short of the end.  Of course, you know what that means – I had to order one more skein, and you KNOW I can’t buy just one skein of yarn from KnitPicks.

This week, I found out that one of my “wish list” patterns is finally being reprinted!  I figured I would never get to knit it, because the magazine is from 1986 and goes for $100 or more on ebay, but now I have it in my hot little hands :)   The pattern is called Lyra by Herbert Niebling, and here is a link to a finished one.  It is designed to be knit in thread with impossibly small needles to make a doily, but i’m going to use probably 2.5mm needles and laceweight yarn to make a tablecloth size.

Does anyone know anything about crown molding?  Summer = indoor projects, and this might be next on my list.
