I FINALLY figured out the best way (for me) to wash the cormo locks. I’m using strips of tulle to separate layers of locks, but I’m only making each package of locks four layers thick now. I tried it with more layers, but the tips really didn’t come clean. I had been fighting with the last round of locks on the combs and getting really frustrated, but tonight I tried some of the most recently washed locks and WOW – the difference was amazing! They comb so easily, and diz out with hardly any waste. I’m in love! I can’t wait to spin this stuff. It’s like holding a cloud:

Off to spin some!

Seems to be the theme around here lately. School is going well, but next May seems a LONG way off right about now. Patience has never been my strong suit, and re-learning all the things I learned in Paramedic school is definitely testing it. I just keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it in the end.
My fleece and I haven’t had much quality time together lately, but tonight I scheduled in a little quality time. I bought some tulle last week to try yet another lock-washing technique, and started pulling locks. I realized after about 45 minutes that if i want to do this right, it is going to take a LONG time. It took me an entire DVD episode of Gilmore Girls to make my first fleece-lock package. I haven’t worked up the courage yet to weigh it and see how many more of these I’ll have to make. If it works, though, it will all be worth it in the end. (Seeing a theme here?)

In order to fulfill my need for instant gratification, I took advantage of some perfect yarn that crossed my path this week. Thanks to a Knit Picks shipping mixup (or perhaps just the universe sensing my need for yarn therapy) I found myself with two balls of Felici sock yarn – after I hadn’t knit in more than three weeks. Of COURSE I was weak. I cast on immediately for a pair of plain ribbed socks. I am deeply in love with this yarn and the striping. I’m knitting them top-down with an afterthought heel to take advantage of the wonderful stripeyness. I’m halfway down the foot on the first sock now:

Random – I LOVE my iPhone. I’ve been obsessed with the App Store the last couple days. Anyone have any favorite apps to recommend?

That’s how much I’ve knit since school started three weeks ago. One round of my “work sock”. School isn’t hard, but it’s a lot of time and a LOT of reading, which leaves not much time for anything else. I got my Cormo fleece in the mail last week, and I’m experimenting with how to wash it and preserve the locks – but again, not much time to play, so not much to show yet.
I did get to see the Super Bowl tonight, though. There’s been so much hype around here that I was Super Bowled out before it even started, but it ended up being a pretty good game.
Don’t look now, but I think I might knit a little before bed. Shhhh – don’t scare the mojo away!
